The Rose of the Himalayas
Somya RawatDamask Rose (Rosa damascena) is one of the most valued rose varieties used in skincare and traditional beauty practices. At Nuage, our Damask Rose is cultivated with farmers around Joshimath in the Himalayas, where the cool mountain climate provides suitable conditions for growing the plant.
The flowers are harvested at the right stage of bloom, when their natural aromatic compounds are at their peak.
From flower to distillate
The freshly harvested flowers are processed soon after collection to retain their natural properties. We use steam distillation to obtain our Damask Rose distillate, capturing the flower's naturally occurring aromatic compounds.
What makes Damask Rose beneficial for skin?
Damask Rose contains naturally occurring antioxidant and aromatic compounds, including phenolic compounds and flavonoids.
These compounds are associated with antioxidant activity and may help support the skin against oxidative stress. Damask Rose is also traditionally valued for its soothing, refreshing, and skin-conditioning properties, making it well suited to gentle skincare formulations.
Why we use Himalayan Damask Rose
At Nuage, we chose Damask Rose for its botanical properties and its suitability for daily skincare.
Our Himalayan Damask Rose is cultivated with farmers in Joshimath and carefully processed after harvest, allowing us to incorporate the natural character of the flower into our formulas.
